FAQ

Popular Patient's Questions Answered

I've broken my dentures — what do I do?

Stop wearing the broken denture, keep every piece even small chips, and call us. Don't try to fix it yourself or keep wearing it in the meantime — that can make the damage worse. Tell us what happened and we'll advise whether to come straight in or book the next available slot.

How do I care for my dentures?

Clean your dentures daily with a soft brush and a denture cleaner, rather than abrasive toothpaste. Remove them at night to give your gums a rest, and soak them in a denture solution to help maintain their condition. We'll give you detailed care instructions tailored to your dentures during your visit.

How many appointments does it take to get dentures?

A new denture typically needs several visits — an initial assessment, impressions, a try-in to check the fit and bite before anything's finalised, and the final fit — spread over some weeks rather than done in one sitting. A repair or reline is usually much faster, often finished in a single visit, sometimes the same day, because our laboratory is on site. We'll give you a realistic number specific to your situation at your first appointment rather than a generic figure.

How do I book an appointment?

Booking an appointment at All Denture Care Clinic is straightforward. You can call us, fill in the contact form on this site, or visit the clinic in person, and our team will help you find a convenient time.

Can I claim dentures on private health insurance?

Many private health extras policies include a benefit for dentures, usually under 'major dental' or 'dentures and prosthetics' — but how much is covered depends entirely on your fund and level of cover, so it's worth checking your own policy rather than assuming. Bring your health fund card to your appointment and we'll help you understand what applies to your treatment. Standard Medicare doesn't cover dentures for adults, so private cover, DVA or a concession-card scheme are the options if cost support matters to you.

Do I need a referral to see a dental prosthetist?

No. A dental prosthetist is a registered AHPRA practitioner you can see directly, without a referral from a dentist or GP. If you need work that's outside a prosthetist's scope — like an extraction or treatment for gum disease — we'll let you know and point you toward a dentist for that part of your care.

How long does it take to get my dentures?

The timeframe depends on the type of dentures and treatment required. Because our lab is on-site, many dentures can be crafted and fitted faster than with an off-site lab. We'll give you a clear timeline at your consultation.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring any previous dental records if you have them, your health fund card, and identification. If you're coming in for a repair or reline, bring your current dentures as well — this helps us give you the most accurate care.
